Big City Entertainment

Formed in 2007, Big City Entertainment, Inc. is a Creative Arts and Animation company which focuses on the development of original intellectual properties which can be used in the form of film, television, comics, graphic novels, games and more. The mission of BCE is to create high quality entertainment products that inspires all ages.

 

Its flagship property is the critically acclaimed comic book series entitled, Brotherman: Dictator of Discipline, originally published in 1990 by the now defunct Big City Comics, Inc.

 

Brotherman Comics was created and illustrated by Dawud Anyabwile and co-created and written by his sibling Guy A. Sims. It initially was launched at the Black Expo Trade show in April 1990 and is recognized as a catalyst to the contemporary independent Black Comic book movement. Dawud Anyabwile is an Emmy Award Winning and two time Glyph Comics award winning Illustrator and comic artist based in Atlanta, GA. He currently runs his own company, Big City Entertainment, Inc. and is the co-creator of Brotherman Comics.


Much of his original art and artifacts from the Brotherman comics series and his personal works are part of the permanent collection of the Smithsonian’s National African American History Museum in Washington DC, The Auburn Avenue Research Library in Atlanta,  GA and the Clark Atlanta University Center Robert W. Woodruff Archives Library.

Brian McGee's credentials include working on music videos, commercial spots and major film and television projects for Disney, Nickelodeon, Turner Network, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Columbia Pictures, Warner Brothers, Universal Pictures, Marvel/Fox, to name a few.

Currently, Brian McGee is represented by Audrey Beharie-McGee for B.R.E Productions International, Inc. an Atlanta, GA based company that specializes in film pre-production, digital illustration, concept art, storyboarding and event management.

Guy A. Sims is an American author known for his work in the Brotherman series of comic books. He is a frequent collaborator with his brother, the illustrator Dawud Anyabwile. In 2015, he adapted Walter Dean Myers' book, Monster into a graphic novel which Anyabwile illustrated.

In 2017 the brothers worked together with Emory University to create the Big City Map Project which created a virtual reality (VR) world for the Brotherman series. The Brotherman Comics and related memorabilia are archived at the Smithsonian’s National African American History Museum in Washington DC.

Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, with a Caribbean cultural background, Mahkeda  Kellman has traveled Internationally and explored her Canadian and Barbadian roots. She is currently pursuing a degree in animation at SVA.

 

To this day, Mahkeda continues to experiment with new styles and techniques, taking inspiration from the natural world and her passion for wolves.
